We had the pleasure to eat in this restaurant twice during a last holiday in saint cyprien. the restaurant has indoor dining options and a closed courtyard behind which a small pond, many shrubs and trees around 3 sides and was beautiful and cool...despite the very hot weather we have experienced. the food was excellent, and the house wine was very smooth and good value. next to the a la carte menu they have two 4 menus at 16 euro and 26 euro, each with suppe, a selection of appetizers, netzen and desserts. we ate both menus and could eat and very friendly servcie could not fail. the offer also offers a series of moules et frites with 8 different sauces for 16 euro (all menus 2 euro cheaper too midday.) note that pretty everything is prepared and cooked to order so not expect to service quickly, but enjoy the ambiente and experience of great diners in a loving environment.
Frustrating, this restaurant was open only for evening meal on Friday and Saturday to juli (although it is open for midday.) we thought the four cure menu chopin was excellent. the food was full of taste, for example the chicken oyster main...Gang service was attentive, friendly and relaxed. we enjoyed some sweat (in French) with our waiter and translate some of the French menu words into English. (I now know the French for cinnamon) we ate in the flower terrace on the back, which was picturesque.
Whilst on holiday with friends and children our holiday hosts suggested a visit to this restaurant. The terrace was busy so one of the owners apologised and seated us inside. This is a very quirky place with a most eclectic decor ranging from Thai dolls,...a stuffed duck to nick-knacks from around the world so plenty to talk about. There is a 15 euros set men which included fresh soup as an entree then a three course meal. Wine is palatable and a reasonable choice. The two owners are from Paris but have been running the place for a long time now. They are cheery and most accommodating to every request. Food arrived slowly but it was buzy and it was no problem. The mussels were tasty and to be recommended. The highlight of the meal was the amazing sorbet. Cassis and apricot were on offer and gave most intense flavours. Do ask for them to be served without the squirty cream though!! 8 of us dined here and had a pleasant night.
It was time for Sunday lunch so we came off the D703 into St Cyprien but couldn 't find anywhere open. Just off the main street we finally found La Gravette seemingly frequented by the locals which was a good recommendation. However, there did not seem...to be any staff in attendance except a man in the kitchen who came to our rescue, seated us, took our order and brought our aperitif. What was to follow was a feast! We had a delicious vegetable soup, prawn salad (and it was large) with lettuce, carrot, potato, cucumber all cut up in a mayonnaise sauce and decorated with half an orange. We then had Monkfish, saute potatoes with a lettuce decoration and finally Rum Baba with cream coffee. This little restaurant deserves a five star rating for the helpfulness of the two waiters but most importantly for their food, it was excellent. It also happened to be very reasonably priced.
