Contribuiți la feedbackWe had 3 courses plus cheese and dessert and each and every one of them - including the bonus rounds - were delicious: seasonal, local and perfectly balanced. Absolutely first-class service, English speaking, super friendly and attentive without being intrusive, great guidance with complementing wine and the incredible cheese trolley. We plan to return to the area again soon and this treat will be at the top of our list of things to do. Highly recommended.
St Bonnet le Froid is probably one of the highest villages in the Ardeche, and the shops and houses have almost an alpine look to them. We were introduced to the restaurant Andre Chatelard by some French friends and went there for lunch. The restaurant's setting may initially put off some people - its just to the side of a public car park. But the place itself is beautifully decorated and very well-run. We had the set 3 course lunch and it was absolutely delicious! Every aspect of the experience was delightful - each course was well-presented and tasty and the service was attentive and friendly without ever being overbearing. Given the quality of the experience, we felt that the restaurant offered very good value for money. We have certainly paid much more in other French restaurants wthout anything like the same enjoyment. A must for the gourmands!
St-Bonnet is best know for Regis and Jacques Marcon's three michelin starred and quite amazing restaurant but if you are making a gastronomic pilgrimage up into these hills, make sure you find time to visit this lovely family restaurant too (they also have rooms so you could base yourself here). Everything about it was perfect; welcoming and comfy ambience, tasty and interesting food, charming and delightful service from Madame and her waitresses. We chose the Parfum du Terroir menu (there are grander ones) which represents the perfect simple lunch menu. Amuse-bouche, three tasty tapas on a plate for starters, followed by a choice of Sandre (which my wife liked) and Cochon du Chambon sur lignon (pork cooked three-ways) which was heavenly. Cheese and dessert trolleys lovely, all washed down with some Condrieu Cheze Breze (recommended), but sadly passed on a glass of Banyuls with pudding. Great value at €31/38, we will look for an excuse to make the trek up here again soon. P.S. If you want any advice on local walks, please get in touch with me - I have walked all the paths in the these parts.
We were a group of 9 people, on our way back to Geneva, and we wanted to leave this beautiful part of France with a nice meal based on local products. We had it all with the set menu, and we were helped in our choices by the owner's wife and her crew. Very good service, after the main course we also had an amazing cheese trolley and an irresistible dessert trolley too!Hard to leave this place after such treat!Price wise, we can say that they are perfectly suited for all.We did not take any bottles of wine, because we were all riding our bikes, so that was the only upset of the day!I can only recommend to anyone to put this place in their next trip, they also have apartments to rent and close by you have a 3*** Michelin too!
We have revisited this restaurant and can confirm that, in our opinion, the food and service are as good as ever.
