After waiting 15 minutes to be served we eventually managed to order a coffee and a hot chocolate. The coffee was terrible, weak and the flavour of boiled hot water. The chocolate was a cheap Nesquick type drink and very weak. For 3€ I would have expected something a little better The tables were covered in sticky substance and a thick liquid. The whole place was ramshackle and a unpleasant mess. Service, environment and drinks terrible.
We walked down to Guinguette from the town centre fairly late but the place was alive with live music and people. The location is delightful and the service prompt and friendly. The river flows past and the view even in the evening is quite romantic, the soaring white cliffs above and the river below. The colour changes in the cliffs as the sun set was beautiful. The meals as were plain but filling. As I said prompt despite the crowd. The Toulouse Sausage dish is very good. We had a good evening there.
This is a cute and quirky restaurant by a river. Nice fresh food and the service is friendly and typical for this part of France (all is done in a very relaxed time frame). This is something I don't mind when I'm on vacation, but I can see other people might get annoyed by. The location is calm with lots of green and right next to the water. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are not in a hurry and want to stop and enjoy some drinks or lunch in a great setting.
We had a couple of plates of mezze style middle eastern food, all of it poor quality from jars and tins and at an insane price. Our son's meal was completely forgotten about. When I complained, the owner told me he doesn't care what I think about his food as he serves 150 people per day. The forgotten dish was my fault too apparently. Such a shame as it's a beautiful place OK for a drink maybe but definitely look elsewhere for food.
I have been coming here on holidays for over 10 years and this is still my favourite bar anywhere in the world... The eclectic music, laid back but friendly staff and customers I've seen some awesome gigs here over the year. This time around the kids were down splashing in the river whilst we sat upstairs enjoying the view. Sitting by the water, staring at the white cliffs as the sun sets with a glass of something...what's not to like?
