La Criee a Saint Andre les Vergers

This is a friendly, attractive restaurant with a sea theme. Fish and shellfish are served and the food was a cut above what we expected. We would not say it is skin cuisine, only very good value, well prepared food that satisfies the hungry traveler.

This restaurant has a mix of both positive and negative reviews from French and English readers. So it's with a bit of apprehension that we tried it. We were staying one night at Ace Hotel Troyes, which is beside it. over, the hotel distributed a...La Criée discount card, which we later found out that it's a 10% off the final restaurant bill. We ordered a set meal for dinner : grilled sardines for starters and moules à la marinière for main dish. We also ordered an ice cream dessert of 3 scoops : lemon, pineapple and apricot. The waiter understood we were sharing the meal and therefore we were given 2 plates each. There were 4 grilled sardines, delicious ! with salad in French dressing. Then came the mussels in white wine. It was a fairly big bowl, filled with mussels, but I could smell it wasn't entirely fresh, so we ate with some caution. The ice cream scoops were alright, but pretty small. Our bill came to 22.40€, after the discount. The waiter served us nicely...Overall, a value for money French chain restaurant.

Stay in ace Hotel as a stopover. This restaurant was chosen by the way, although it looked like a typical chain restaurant. That wasn't much. Was pleasantly surprised food very good, wine excellent and 15% discount voucher from the hotel did not costly either!!!

Less than average quality, bad portion size and bad execution. I tried fish and chips. The fish was 70% dough that had been boiled in old spiked oil. On the left, in my mouth, a terrible dirty spiked oil tastes. All in all, revolting. The desert was mode off-site and prefabricated.

Great place with friendly (English speaking! staff very quiet when we were there so give it a try if you are in the region.
