Steak N Shake - Saint Albans

Not impressed. Obvious problems with staff motivation.Arrived at a non-busy time (8:30 PM) Waited nearly 5 minutes to be seated. It was another 5 minutes before the server came to the table. It was 15 minutes to get a milk shake after my order was taken. When I tried to check out, the girl said 'I 'll be right with you ' then proceeded to talk with whom I assume are her friends for several minutes. After waiting at the register for several minutes, the manager asked the drive through order-taker to check me out. He was unable to make change for the $10 bill I handed him, and the manager had to drop the cooking that she was doing to finish checking me out. The girl never did stop talking with her friends. This was hands-down, the WORST restaurant experience I have EVER had! Please look at my other posts to know that I do not post just negative things. I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Update: It is nearly a year later, and I decided to give it a second chance. This time, the service was excellent, my order was taken and my shake was brought to me within about 4 minutes after being seated. It was only a few minutes later that I received my food. This is a 100% improvement in the time it took to get my food during my last visit. The burger was very greasy. I would like to have had it drained much better before placing it into the sandwich and making the bun soggy. On one hand, the employees were quite loud with their joking and conversing with each other. On the other hand, the service was very good, the shake and fries were excellent, and the time it took to get my food was awesome. They got the job done fast even with all the talking and joking. Bottom Line:: If it had been a bit quieter and if my burger had been drained better, I would upgrade my rating to a '5 ' instead of a '4 '. (original rating: 1)

It was afternoon, and not to busy. I had not been in a Steak and Shake in years. I ordered a single burger and fries. I also got a small shake. It came promptly. Burger was hot and fresh, but I should have ordered a double. It was to small. Shake was cold and thick. Every staff person I encountered was very nice. Good location and I will visit again.

I'd rather have left it better before I put it in the sandwich and make the bungalow soggy. on the one hand, the employees with their sweat and talk were quite loud. on the other side the service was very good, the shake and the pommes were excellent, and the time it needed to get my food was great. they have made the job fast, also talk and sweat with all those. lower line: if it had been a bit calmer and if my burger had been better off, I would update my review to a 5 instead of 4. I also have a little shake. it came right away. burger was hot and fresh, but I would have ordered a double. it was too small. Shake was cold and thick. every worker I met was very nice. good location and I will visit again.

Our food was as we ordered it. it was tasty and the ladies in register and serve were great.
