El Forastero Mexican Food - Sacramento

I really liked their food, but I do think the prices are a bit high for a franchise. It’s also inconvenient that they charge an extra 45 cents since I usually don’t carry cash. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly. I’ll definitely be getting my lunch there, mostly out of convenience.

El Forastero serves the best tacos I've ever tasted. The service is outstanding, thanks to the incredibly friendly staff. No matter when I pick up my orders, whether it's day or night, they are always quick and pleasant. If you're looking for truly great food, I highly recommend El Forastero.

I've never had a bad experience at this restaurant. It’s absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the chips and salsa bar feels somewhat neglected. Other than that, this place is excellent!

I live around the corner. The deliciousness of the food seems to depend on who's working that day because I've received some wild variations in the food. Sometimes the refried beans are thick creamy, other times they're like water. The carnitas quesadillas are amazing, though I have received bone in them a few times, so be careful when you're chewing. (I didn't mind, because it shows authentic cooking prep)

Updated review: the burrito is back to normal. The food tastes good. It reminded me of getting Mexican food in Los Angeles, where you can get a real burrito and not a California burrito filled with too much beans and rice. They might have changed the recipe recently however. On my last visit the burrito was half beans and rice instead of all meat. Still tasty, but disappointed it was changed.
