After the coldest welcome by the manager consider yourself lucky: 1 more minute and I 'd have cancelled your booking! , we have waited 45 minutes for a very disappointing cheese fondue. The food here isn 't good at all. The only positive note: the waitresses are very...kind.

Excellent friendly service including advice on the range of fondue experiences available. Great food, not only a great range of fondues. Good atmosphere and good value for money, well located although tucked away. Good opportunity to try a range of fondues with the fondue fun...menu choice.

I lived in Switzerland for 18 years and trust me. have eaten a LOT of fondue. In Vieux Chalet I could eat one of the best. The fondue plausch (fondue pot with 3 sections) was excellent, and makes a nice way to ring the changes and try some different flavors with no risk. The are 14 flavors to choose from including pear, tomato, garlic, truffle and more. And the portions are generous. My husband and I couldn't finish what was in the pot.But one of the big advantages here was the staff. Without fail every single one was smiley and helpful. The Swiss certainly tend to offer efficient quality service but it's not always the friendliest (in my opinion.) But here you felt like a regular being welcomed back and where nothing was too much trouble. They had a big booking of 14 in when we went, but they were still stress free and smiling and every table (and ALL tables were occupied) still received good service.And yes, they speak English.

They have a great choice of cheese fondues. They have special fondue pans so you can order mixed choices.

Very nice little family place in which to indulge in all varieties of cheese preparations. They had I think more than 20 different fondues on the menu!
