Ranchos Cocina - S San Diego

Found this place while looking for a vegan restaurant and I loved how tleveryrhing on the menue could be made vegan. I ordered the Carne fries but vegan style and they added some mushrooms in place and it was by far the best ive had nicely flavored . The customer service was really the icing on the cake , the young lady at the register was patient and helpful with assisting me with making a decision on my order.

Based on reviews tried this place. It is a good for vegans. Offers almost all menu items can be made for vegans or GF and their specialty seems to be mole. Their mole is definitely much better than other places. Wish they offer vegetarian options by including cheese/dairy. Even after requesting, they didn’t include cheese. Ordered three enchiladas, mole enchilada, chilli relleno burrito, Horchata. Horchata is nice bit on sweeter side. Sauces are spicy. Chips are bit oily.

Really enjoyed the interior decoration and service at Ranchos Cocina but felt that the food fell a little flat. I ordered tamales, which are one of my favorite foods, and felt that the dough they were made out of had a weirdly spongey texture and the filling wasnt super flavorful. The rest of the food was pretty okay and I think the place was nice but likely would not go back.

Love that this place has a lot of vegan vegetarian options. I got the trio enchiladas- the mole sauce and the verde sauce are really good. The red sauce could use more flavor.

My husband and I visited San Diego this last week on vacation and tried as many vegetarian friendly places as possible since we don’t have many options like this back home. This was in the top two favorites of our whole trip! So many options for me to choose from and it was nice there were also non-veg options for him too. We did the queso and guac to start, he had three wildcaught salmon tacos, and I tried the Mole poblano with vegan grilled “chicken”. Everything was really delicious! Especially the mint coconut sauce they gave us. Our waitress was friendly and service was great. If we lived in San Diego or close by Ranchos Cocina would be a staple restaurant for us. 10/10 recommend.
