This place might be the rarest of all things in San Diego. An up to date, legitimate, late night diner, with decent food, great staff and comfortable setting. This isn't a greasy spoon, remade dennys folks. It's also not a fusion of three continents four course meal with butter of rare unicorn belly. It's standard diner food, cooked well, with a good drink menu, in a setting that's fun, a staff that provides great service and an overall great price. Chicken Fried Steak. House Old Fashion. Meat Loaf Decent Martini. You know, you don't expect much at midnight, in San Diego. But you get a lot here. It's unique enough to be San Diego, but right enough to be what you need. Bring family, bring out of town guest, a great place for those late evenings when you just need a comfortable place to eat good food.
The first time I ate here was months ago. My main course was missing my side dish, but it was fine. I thought I would give them another chance. Today, I ordered chicken fried steak and waffles. Both the gravy and syrup was missing, so I have plain waffles and chicken fried steak. Not worth the money.
The Wizard of Oz themed restaurant is cool. And it has a modern feel.I had the omelet with gravy and one of the best ****** Mary's I have ever had. The make mix for the drink, from scratch!
The food here is bland, traditional and pretty boring. A bit pricey for essentially cafeteria food. The chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and vegetable soup looks and tastes like a frozen dinner. Great service and cute atmosphere.
