The Butter Cross, Bingham - Rushcliffe

I have been coming to this restaurant for breakfast or lunch for the past ten years, but unfortunately, that will no longer be the case. The prices at Wetherspoon's have increased significantly, making them less competitive compared to other chains. The portions are getting smaller and the prices are going up. The curry lunch balti bowl, in particular, has shrunk in size while the price has gone up. The only positive aspect is the friendly staff and cheaper beer. However, we will now be taking our lunch business elsewhere. Farewell!

I revisited the restaurant in May. We ordered curry meals with garlic naan, both of which were very tasty. The drinks were good as well. We were greeted by two ladies who used to work at a nearby Wetherspoons in Newark. The restaurant was clean and we didn't have to wait long for our meal.

I have always enjoyed going to Wetherspoons, despite the eccentric owner. However, the Butter Cross pub in Newark was a disappointment. The cleanliness of the pub was lacking, with dirty tables and cluttered dishes. The staff seemed disinterested and the food was subpar. My fish and chips were the worst I have ever had at any pub, with dry mushy peas and overcooked, tasteless fish. My wife's gammon was missing the accompanying eggs, and when we asked about it, we were given a single egg without any apology. Overall, the experience was poor and we will not be returning. It seems like Wetherspoons is struggling in some locations, and if the Butter Cross continues to set such low standards, it wouldn't be surprising if it closed down.

Scampi and chips very good, doombar ok.service at bar was very, very slow.better than newarks wetherspoons, staff better.

Abysmal service. Wanted a beer and a take away. Said take away arrived in a doggy box. No bag no napkins. Totally disgusting response from the staff.
