The Bourne Valley - Runnymede

The restaurant has delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and very friendly staff. The cakes are especially tasty! We are regular customers here.

I hadn't been able to visit this restaurant for a while and noticed they had changed to table service. I was seated in a decent space but had some issues with the service. I ordered coffee and some extras, but no cutlery was brought for the cakes. I had trouble getting the attention of the staff without having to walk over to the till area. It took a long time to order more drinks, and the staff seemed hesitant to visit the conservatory area where I was seated. No one checked in to see if we needed anything, and when the second round of drinks finally arrived, we decided not to stay for lunch due to the difficulty in getting the staff's attention. I don't plan on returning in the near future.

My partner and I, both in our 30s, have visited this restaurant/cafe a few times before as it is local to us. This week, we had some free time from work and decided to try the afternoon tea. We were not disappointed. We made a reservation through the website and were able to choose where to sit. The staff were very accommodating to my dietary needs, as I do not eat fish. The afternoon tea was one of the best I have ever had, surpassing even some high-end places. There was a plentiful selection of fresh, well-filled sandwiches, warm scones, and delicious petit fours. We had so much food that we had to take some home! The staff were plentiful, polite, friendly, and happy to help. They refilled our tea and coffee as needed. I cannot wait to come back and enjoy the offerings here again. Thank you for having us!

We are from a local drama group who have been coming roughly once a month for breakfast (ever since the first easing of lockdown restrictions) before heading off to build and paint scenery for our productions, and we have never been disappointed. The food is brilliant, catering equally well for our carnivores, vegetarians and vegans, the service is always friendly and efficient, and the prices extremely reasonable. Add to that the chance to pick up gifts for friends and family, as well as Christmas decorations in December what more could we ask for? I am rating this as a CAFE NOT as a Restaurant since calling it a Restaurant is simply delusions of grandeur! Waiting to be seated and full table service is new since I last went here and it is an improvement not to queue up at the counter to order. I had Ham, Egg Chips which was really good, the ham was particularly excellent Price was OK at £9.99. Vanilla Milk shake was very disappointing and way over priced at £4.50: Very small glass, about one third of which was ice or froth. Prices seemed to include service although there was a pot at the till for cash tips. Didn't enjoy the hard chairs as i like some padding...
