Esplanade - Rothesay

The restaurant on the first floor offers a great view of the harbor and town square. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced, with a good choice of wines. The staff is friendly and service was fast, even during busy times. We both enjoyed the Cullen Skink, and I also had the lasagna, both of which were delicious. The Tempranillo wine paired nicely with our meal.

I visited a charming restaurant in an old building with a beautiful entrance and an appealing old bar inside. I ordered penne carbonara, kids chicken nuggets, fish cakes, and a tuna wrap, all of which were delicious. The service was excellent, and although I was going to mention the dated signage, my wife thought that the whole of Bute had the same vibe, so I didn't think it was necessary. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

I did not stay at the hotel but I dined at the restaurant. The menu stated that the chips were supposed to be hand-cut, but they were actually frozen chips with hard bits throughout. It was not the best I've ever had. The service was rated as a 3 out of 5.
