The Golden Ball - Rotherham

We arrived for our booking to be told that there was no booking made under our details at all. They did fortunately have a cancellation that they gave us, otherwise we would have been left with no where to eat on new years eve! The waitress plonked our bottle of wine down on the table, didn't even open it, let alone pour it. The food was outstanding apart from the mashed potato which was definitely powdered.

Great pub, lovely atmosphere . Went for Xmas lunch.mixed food quality. Turkey and cranberry pie not good, awful mash and mushy tasteless sprouts. Very expensive for what it is. Other meals in the party were OK.

Excellent attentive staff. Very polite. Beautiful setting the pub itself is full of character and good food we will definitely return in the future

The food wasn’t very hot and the size of the meat portion (roast beef) was very small only 2 very tiny slithers of beef. We have eaten here several times previously and always enjoyed it but was disappointed today. The vegetables were good and varied and the Yorkshire puddings lovely. Unfortunately we will be trying somewhere else for a Sunday roast????
