Mama's Kitchen - Rotherham

The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding service. They also offer a takeaway service and will soon be providing delivery.

I have visited Mama's Kitchen a few times. The atmosphere is very relaxed, like visiting your grandmother's house. I have tried the saltfish ackee and rice as well as the vegetable curry and rice with dumplings. Both meals were delicious and satisfying, especially considering the reasonable prices. I would suggest getting your meal before closing time, as the most popular items tend to sell out towards the end of the day.

Finally, a much-needed addition to Rotherham's dining scene. Tired of the same old food options, it's refreshing to find a new gem like this. The owner is lovely and the food is top-notch.

I visited this take-away on Friday February and I was really pleased that we finally had a Caribbean takeaway in Rotherham. I walked into the shop and I was served by a surly young man and an older lady who believe does the...cooking was sat at a table. I ordered curried mutton with rice and peas and I asked about the specials. I was told that none of the specials listed was available but they did have ackee and salt fish. This was listed on the menu at I said that I would have this together with fried dumplings. I was given my food and was charged I queried this and I was told that the ackee was on the specials. I left and on my way home I struggled with carrying the food as the containers used are polystyrene and the gravy from the mutton curry poured out of the side and the brown paper bag became soggy and split. Fortunately I had a plastic bag with me so I transferred the brown bag to this. No thought appears to have been given to the containers they use which are wholly unsuitable for food with sauce. When I got home I unpacked the food and the ackee and salt fish was really disappointing as there in total pieces of ackee and the salt fish was non existent. I checked the menu and ackee and salt fish was priced at I phoned the takeway and I spoke to the young man who served me. I pointed out that I had been over charged and I was told that it wasn't their fault as the menus were wrong and that the ackee and salt fish should have been listed as a special at I said that it wasn't and that as it didn't I had been over charged. He argued that this wasn't the case and refused to give me a refund or apologize. I also pointed out that the portion even at represented very poor value for money. He said that I should have checked this before I left. I pointed that he had packed this up away from my vision so I was not able to do this. I repeated that I was really unhappy and he reluctantly agreed to refund me if I returned to the shop. The customer service was shocking and I have no intention of going back. The curried mutton was good as were the dumplings but the entire experience was a disaster. This business has no concept of customer service and do not really care about whether a customer is happy or not. Over priced and poor value for money. Containers used are not suitable for the food being served.
