Contribuiți la feedbackI frequently visit this restaurant with my husband whenever we are in the area. My go-to order is the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, while he prefers the ma po tofu with fried rice. The bubble tea is also delicious. Unfortunately, the last time we tried to visit, the restaurant was closed. I hope it's just for renovations and not permanently closed.
HK Diner is a popular canteen in China Town, open till late serving simple Cantonese fast food Dishes such as baked pork chop rice and boat congee are some of the most loved comfort Cantonese items so you can always see the place is packed with Chinese students thanks to its cheap price. But be aware the service is pretty awful like most other venues in China Town, I would suggest the baked pork chop with spicy pepper as the robust savoury aroma is just so inviting with just a hint of smoky element from the baking process.
Good, not great. ORDER: BBQ Roast Duck Cantonese Style (portion size, pictured), Chicken Kung Po, Hot Sour Soup, Steamed Rice, Hot Lemon Tea. ROAST DUCK: Very good, but extremely annoying to eat. Lots of bones and/or cartilage that was annoying to eat around. Worth getting to say you've had roast duck, but the annoyance of eating it would ensure I didn't ever get it again from HK. CHICKEN KUNG PO: I enjoyed it but my wife (who ordered it) was not a huge fan. She also thought the hot sour soup was a bit too thick/stewlike. RICE: Was rice. LEMON TEA: Black tea base with three sliced lemons and perhaps some lemon infusion. Very good. OTHER: They tried to overcharge us by £20. May...read more
Surprisingly good, with excellent cuts of meat. Portions were generous. Boba was a bit lackluster, but it's almost impossible to find in London, anyway. Definitely a good choice, if you're in Chinatown.
We decided to try out HK Diner since none of us had been there before. Despite being in Chinatown, our expectations were low, but we were pleasantly surprised by both the delicious food and excellent service. We ordered seabass cooked Chinese style, crab, mapo tofu, and rice. This was my first time trying mapo tofu, and it did not disappoint. The tofu was soft and the sauce was well-flavored. The sight of the fish with its head still attached was a bit unsettling, but the meat was delicious. The crab was especially amazing, with a sweet and sour sauce with a hint of chili that paired perfectly with the rice. I would definitely recommend trying the crab and rice together. Overall, a great dining experience at HK Diner.
