Pepe's Mexican - Romeoville

Pepe’s has always been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants ! I ordered through pickup and the food was ready in 20 minutes. They have a decent variety of Mexican food for a reasonable price. The chips and salsa from here are the best chips and salsa I’ve ever had ! This was my first time trying the chorizo quesadilla from here and it was delicious ! I would definitely recommend Pepe’s for anybody looking for some tasty, fast, and reasonable priced Mexican food ! —Chloe

This Pepe's always has good food, good deals and great service. Patty is the best server, she is always friendly and sweet to our children. I would always recommend this place!

Romeoville, IL location is horrible. I ordered the la tampiquena skirt steak meal and it looked NOTHING like the picture on the menu online. It was so thin it looked like it had been pounded possibly to make it cook faster. I specifically asked for medium with a pink center and not burnt or even charred grill marks. It definitely had grill marks and was NOT pink in the center at all. I didn 't think to take a picture as it was late at night and we were trying to get to bed for an appt today. And because I didn 't have pictures and had already thrown out part of the steak and given some to my cat (yes, I hated wasting it so gave my cat a little) so couldn 't take a picture today even. So me my husband talked about never going back and I decided I would just call them to let the manager know what happened. He was all willing to replace it at first, then said hold on, went to speak to the cook who said it was pink with no marks. This is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. I even went so far to say maybe(trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, which was then not given to me) it was because they put it in wrapped it up in aluminum foil which allows it to continue cooking, but does not account for the char marks. I was a chef at the on base restaurant and definitely know what overcooked improperly tenderized steak is! Look at other reviews... I 'm not the only one saying tough steak . The manager was quite rude and literally said How do I know if you 're being untrue and he didn 't know if I was trying to get free food . I was flabbergasted. Floored. Completely taken back that he would infer any customer is a liar and pretty much greedy looking for free food. When my husband had brought it home the bag was so light that he was so upset and thought at first they had forgotten to put some of the food in the bag. It was all there, just low quality skirt steak that had not been prepared or tenderized correctly and left it hard to chew, overcooked and had marks when I specifically asked for no marks. The enchilada was a big mess and he did say those don 't travel well. I loved the sauce on the steak and could literally drink that, but when the main protein is destroyed you are left with a bad experience.

Went for the buffet. Was met at the door warmly and our drink orders were immediately taken. Everything we had was warm and fresh. I, for one was very surprised at the spread they put out including guacamole which was chilled perfectly. We came on a Tuesday which was also 1/2 price Margarita day. 3 people ate and drank for under $50!
