Contribuiți la feedbackWe visited Life Restaurant Wine Bar the first night my family and I were in Rome and we were truly amazed. The food, atmosphere, and service was impeccable. David and Deborah treated us with the best service I have ever received at a restaurant. And they finished us off with complimentary limoncello and truffles. If you visit Rome, you MUST visit this spot! Give these two a raise!
When a restaurant is billed as one of the best in Rome and selling wine at up to 1000 euros a bottle you might expect something special. Sadly this was the case but especially bad was not what we hoped for. The staff were lovely but inept. They kept explaining that the restaurant was really busy with around 1/3 of the tables full The errors started immediately with an incorrect drinks order that the realised after a few minutes and to be fair corrected themselves with a complimentary glass of wine The menu looked interesting- my wife ordered the crispy egg and I opted for the fish carpaccio and our daughter the clam spaghetti They arrived promptly The egg was glorious and that’s was as good as it got. The carpaccio was presented as 3 unappetising discs of macerated fish with poor texture and little flavour. Our 6 years old liked the clams but complained that the pasta didn’t taste of much which I agreed with compared to the vastly better and cheaper versions we’d had elsewhere. The mains arrived later and unfortunately cold. We also only had half of our side dishes. The apologised and took the food back to be reheated The lamb rack was 3 lamb chops well cooked and with a good flavour. The fillet steak with truffles was tender but the truffle sauce was glutinous . I took my daughters to the toilet which was dirty with no clean paper and a soaked toilet roll lying on the floor. We complained and received a reduction however all in all a poor experience and not worth the money at all. We have had vastly better food and service at local trattorias- The restaurant has the makings of being good but inept good prep snd service really let it down This really was a case of the Emperors new clothes!
We were really looking forward to eating here the menu looked amazing. It was very pricey (bottles of wine for over €1000) but seemed like it was going to be worth it. We were underwhelmed when we arrived and were seated it seemed ok. I ordered the poached eggs with truffle and my husband had a trio of fish carpaccio. My egg was amazing it was all downhill after that! Our 6 year old had spaghetti with clams but it was just plain spaghetti with clams no sauce. My husband’s fish carpaccio looked very unappetising and he didn’t eat it. For mains we had beef with truffles and lamb with almonds. Both meals eventually arrived and were stone cold we sent them back and they forgot my husband’s sides. To be honest the two waitresses seemed to be trying their best but struggled with the orders. Once reheated the lamb was really tasty. The waitress was very apologetic and did take some money off the bill.
Ambiente impeccabile, personale gentile, professionale, sempre sorridente e disponibile, e, il cibo è ottimo.
Sono appena stato a cena. Prima volta e non sarà l'ultima. Ottima esperienza per il palato. Preso calamaretti con carciofi e a seguire tonno rosso con pistacchio. Divini entrambi. Ottima cantina dei vini, ho accompagnato i piatti con rosè Franciacorta.
