We ate breakfast here several times during our stay in Pigneto. We enjoyed the soya cappuccino, espresso, muffins and croissants. We had no trouble communicating in English and our few words of Italian. My only complaint is that the smell of cigarette smoke was very strong inside during our second visit, although the smokers were sitting outside.
As an area, Pigneto is doing a bit of a Shoreditch of London. And right now it is in that fabulous stage of having artists and great studios and great eating places realising the potential of the neighbourhood away from the centre, and moving in, but not quite to the full-blown, so trendy that it makes one cry, and completely overpriced stage. It is still quite affordable and close enough to the centre. Necci is one of the cafes that comes up top of the list. We are lucky enough to have friends who live locally in Pigneto, and naturally that was our first stop after settling things down at our Airbnb, which was just literally round the corner from Necci. The staff was very international and with very communicable Spanish, Italian and English and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more choices. The service efficient and jovial and the food, ah wow the food... it is hard to get a bad meal in Italy, even the supposedly terrible places around the main attractions- even there they were never so terrible. But it was everything as I would expect and was hoping for. As a confirmed movie buff, I have also been told that Pasolini once visited as it was his local, well, who I am ever to even imagine contradicting the great master? Highly recommended and the breakfasts were great also.
Questo locale dal passato glorioso, frequentato da Pasolini e da una certa cerchia intellettuale degli anni 60 e 70, ha un presente ancora molto vivida, anche se gli intellettuali di un tempo, certamente, non ci sono più. L'inversione di tendenza è sicuramente nella ricerca estetica che il locale mette sia nel menu che nella cura del Locale. Consigliato per un aperitivo.
Terrasse super sympa et bonne ambiance. En apéro ils servent des chips au paprika faites maison. Le serveur nous a conseillé un très bon vin couleur orange, sucré et un peu amer , très original comparé aux vins que nous connaissons (en Bourgogne). Cuisine très bonne, j'avais pris des pâtes aux cèpes et mon copain des gnocchis aux fruits de mer nous en étions très contents. Ensuite nous avons pris des pangoccioli (petites brioches aux pépites de chocolat) servies avec de la glace vanille, de la glace chocolat et de chantilly.
