Ottimo cibo fresco e personale davvero cordiale! Consigliatissimo
Ottima locale per una sosta post tour Vaticano. Ben curato, pulito e personale gentile. Prezzi in linea con il contesto. Lo consiglio, anche per le famiglie
This evening started badly. Heading to Eggs, which is acclaimed for serving the best carbonara in Rome, my family and I found ourselves outside a closed establishment named E.g.g, due to a navigation error. Consequently we found ourselves outside this restaurant, where the owner assured us we 'd have a great meal. The chef is Italian , he boasted, which didn 't seem like something especially unusual in Rome. I don 't want to dwell too much on our nightmare of an experience, but I will quickly touch on the two elements of any meal out: the food, and the service. Firstly, the food. We ordered three mains: a gnocchi with clams, a prawn risotto, and a cannelloni. The cannelloni contained a tube of strange mystery meat. The prawn risotto was full of bits of prawn shell, despite just being two large unshelled prawns atop a pile of very ordinary risotto. Weirdest of all was the gnocchi, which contained alongside the promised gnocchi several stands of tortellini, suggesting the several things were being boiled up in the one pot. All the food seemed to be mass produced, and not made freshly by the kitchen. The service, sadly, was worse than the food: a combination of comedy and tragedy. After three side plates were brought out for the stale white bread, a fourth mysteriously appeared. I presumed it was for my clam shells. Ten minutes later is was removed from the table, only to return again in another ten minutes. This was done by a nervous young waiter, so was easily forgiven. Much more worrying was the very sombre and sullen service we received from our main server. Such was his behaviour that we felt compelled to eventually ask him is he was okay. He definitely wasn 't when we ignored his request for a tip at the end of the night. After all, we 'd already paid a 6 Euro service fee which had appeared unwarranted on the bill. Most disappointing of all, this was the first tine in over fifty years of dining that I wasn 't asked if we wanted drinks, or had a wine list offered. If this had happened, we probably would have spent a lot on alcohol, in order to take out minds off the food and service. I post all this for three purposes. 1). Hopefully you 'll avoid going there. 2). Maybe it will inspire the restaurant to lift it 's game. 3). Most importantly, it may stop the owner from telling fibs about what customers can expect.
