We started with the tuna tartare and some octopus bites (don't remember the name). The tartare wasn't anything to write home about, but those octopus bites were delicious! We also had a delicious sushi roll and the chicken teriyaki entree both delicious. Overall, I think this is a solid and affordable option in the area. We will definitely be back to try more of the sushi rolls.
I will go back again! My sashimi was great and fresh My spider maki was 3/5 soft shell crab) But over all it was better than most Japanese restaurants in the area for now!
Omg, come here and get the fatty salmon nirigi and the unagi nigiri, you will not regret it!! I keep thinking about those two dishes alone and looking forward to coming back. Also the sauteed pork gyoza was the best gyoza I've ever had, no joke. Overall we got those and two specialty rolls that were really good and miso soup (always craving miso soup) I did get a yuzu drink that I can't remember the name which was pretty good if you don't mind the sourness. Looking forward to when we are back in the area so we can come back here.
The sushi here is no joke, been coming here for weeks and it is by far the best sushi around. I typically get the chirashi bowl. It's a chefs selection of fresh fish on top of sushi rice. The spicy miso ramen was okay, but would definitely go there for there sushi. My favorite roll is the dragon roll. A must get!
I am perplexed as to how the food at this place has garnered such high reviews, but it was the reviews that led us to order $140 of takeout from Kusshi on 7/15/22. Let me preface this review by saying that some of our trusted sushi options in the area are Raku, Yuraku, and Niwano Hana. We 100% based our decision to stray from our usual spots on positive Yelp reviews. I know management reads and responds to the reviews and I hope our negative experience will be remedied in some way other than asking us to give them another try, because that will not happen. The good: the restaurant offered buy one, get one free for shumai, edamame, or gyoza, and we opted for the shumai. It tasted decent, although one order would have been sufficient. we ordered a green side salad that was no more than red and green leaf lettuce and shaved carrots and a carrot ginger dressing (I think . It wasn't exciting, but it was fine and preferable to an offering of iceberg lettuce. the chicken teriyaki tasted ok, and there was a lot of it. It was on the peppery side and there wasn't a lot of sauce (which is usually not the case with teriyaki in my experience . the delivery of the food was on time. The bad: lollipop wings. The wings included what can only be described as a fist sized clump of batter and were unrecognizable as any kind of chicken. the amount of meat on the wings was paltry, and the one non lollipop wing that was thrown into the order served as a reminder of what a chicken wing looks like. This was rather tasteless as well. hamachi and scallion roll. it was unremarkable and tasteless and I stopped after one piece. The ugly: 15 piece nigiri. The seared white fish (albacore? and seared tuna were dry and tasted rather stale. The octopus was cut too thick and was flavorless. The salmon and squid were both fine. That's the biggest compliment we can give for an assortment that was $40. The mackerel smelled very strong, even for mackerel. We considered tasting it, but ultimately did not. There were two other unidentifiable pieces of fish that were discolored and we didn't want to chance it (something we haven't felt from any local sushi in recent memory . The quality of the rest of the nigiri was so iffy that we declined to try anything else and threw the rest away. It's a sushi restaurant, Kusshi should get the sushi right.
