Dingles Cafe & Bar - Rockhampton

We went to Dingles Cafe and Bar for breakfast based on a recommendation from a friend. It didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and ample. The interior is beautiful which creates a warm atmosphere. We spoke to a number of different staff members and all were friendly and helpful. There was no designated kids menu which would have been nice as they struggled to eat all of their meals. It was a wonderful way to start the day. Will definetly visit again next time we are in Rockhampton.

Dingles has an excellent lunch menu with just small number of interesting dishes available. We had the crispy salmon, the ploughman' lunch and the market green bowl. All were fresh and delicious and were served quite quickly. The drinks menu complements the food menu nicely. Service was friendly, efficient and professional and the atmosphere was lovely. Dingles is definitely worth your time.

I booked at this new cafe in person the day before for a work lunch for me and a colleague. When we arrived the next day, I was told that I didnt have a booking, and then I saw the booking book that they used and my name had been crossed out!!! WTF! I thought. Why would that happen? Especially at a business that was barely 3 weeks old. One of the female owners to her credit quickly found a table for both of us. I ordered a beef burger, after waiting almost 10 mins to be served, and then had no less than two staff ask if I was ready to order, after I had finally ordered. The venue is an old style corner building run by a family, which is great. However it is trying to be either a cafe or a place with good coffee and a barista, reportedly from Bondi, without impressing me in the cafe offerings. My colleague later reported the coffee to be really good. My beefburger was overpriced for what you got, and very underwhelming. It arrived with lettuce all over the plate and hanging out of the bun everywhere, the pattie was homemade and thick but not great, and the fillings were basically american jack cheese, tomato lettuce. I asked for grilled onions , the wait staff said they would check to see if I could add it, and my burger arrived a minute later without it, no explanation first. the flies in this venue were also disgusting, as the gut next to me took great pleasure in splatting one between his hands. Wide open doors, no air con on a hot day and flies buzzing around as you ate. Not good, for what they were portraying as an nice semi upscale place to dine and have a coffee. The bathroom was also unisex, so one had to wait to use it all the time. To be fair this was in their opening few weeks, tings may have improved, but in the cutthroat coffee/cafe game, you should be able to provide what customers are expecting. It was also noted that the cafe was still being fitted out with shelving while open for business, so tradies were in behind the counter working still and getting in staff way. Underprepared poorly presented and overpriced food with my advance booking cancelled without any reason or phone call. I wont be back in a hurry.
