The Spirit Room - Rochester

Taxidermy, cocktails, beer, art, oddities, non-alcoholic cocktails... I'm legitimately in love. I live in Buffalo and wanted to show my friend from out of town the best of Western NY. I'm certainly glad my friends suggested this place. Being an hour and a half away, I didn't want to get schnockered, so I put my faith in the kind bartender/owner to periodically make a craft NA cocktail. The beer selection wooed me, and the cocktails with booze were also excellentlymade. The atmosphere, lighting, and music set a mood that made me return, even in that first night. I couldn't find anything better! The next time I come, I'm going to have to get the tacos, because at this point, I trust what they'redoing. Thanks so much, Rachel, Xander, and Jacob for your expertise, care, and hospitality.

This is truly a Unique experience and worth stopping in. They had two bands the evening we visited and although a smaller venue for a band it was very cool. They have a full bar and what a very interesting bar it is! The staff were all friendly and helpful and the decor is worth the trip alone. They also had tables out on the sidewalk to enjoy your drinks and hang out at. It's in downtown Rochester and with the music it was a great night!

I have been to this establishment several times in the past and have always had a positive experience. The decor is unique, drinks are usually tasty and whimsical, food is tasty.Everything was perfectly fine tonight, until I went to close out my tab for the evening and my card had magically ?disappeared? from the bar. I had several witnesses who had heard me telling the bartender to ?leave the tab? open earlier in the evening, and saw her take the card and place it behindthe bar. When I went to close out, she became argumentative and denied ever taking the card, even though I had purchased a food order and received the order. The manager was very kind, and cleared our tab, and gave us a small amount ofcash, as I was visibly upset and attempting to call my bank, in order to cancel the lost/stolen card. I then, received a call, from the nice manager, after returning home, stating that the bartender had ?accidentally placed the card backon the bar at one point? and someone had taken it. This person had called the bar, stating that a friend had taken the card off of the bar and given it to them, thinking that it ?was a gift card?. This caller supposedly lives 40 minutesaway, and would not be returning the card to the restaurant. The whole situation is extremely shady, and I?m really bummed?I used to love this place! I had to end the night, cancelling my debit card, ordering a new one (which takes over aweek to come in), and cancel every account that is connected to the debit card. Total nightmare. With no apology from the bartender who made the mistake, in the first place?

I absolutely love this place. Not only is the venue everything I could have wanted aesthetically. The bartenders, and all of the rest of the staff are amazing as well as the crowd of people. But I would expect nothing less from a place called The Spirit room! Also the drink The Loup Garou?! You gotta get it. It's SO GOOD. Someone that normally gets a pina colada I promise you this is a absolutely better than better replacement

A bunch of us went there after an event and the bartenders rolled with the punches! The drinks were great and the drag karaoke was amazing, shout-out to the queens who looked amazing, and the atmosphere was so cool and over the top. Id be delighted to go back next time I?m in the area, hopefully with a smaller crowd.
