Polizzi's - Rochester

The food here is fantastic and fairly priced; however, the noise level is quite excessive. I used to steer clear of the Gate House in this location because it felt nearly impossible to have a conversation. Despite this, I absolutely love the polenta fries, homemade bread, and butterscotch budini. Food: 5/5

I really enjoy this place! The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. I do have one suggestion: we sat at the bar and the TV was on, playing something with no sound, but no one was actually watching it. I think it would be better to set the TVs to peaceful scenes from Italy or an aquarium instead. That being said, the crowd was very diverse, with both young and older patrons. We tried the fig pizza and had some wine, both of which were superb. The service was outstanding as well. The place was bustling when we arrived around 7:30.

I started with a delightful Caesar salad that featured anchovies, prepared just the way it should be! For my main course, I ordered the prosciutto-wrapped salmon served over white beans with escarole and saffron rice. Don't be misled by my photo; it was a generous portion that I almost couldn’t finish, even though I wished it would never end. The flavors were perfectly balanced—not too subtle and not overwhelming. I mean that wholeheartedly; I can't remember the last time I enjoyed such a well-crafted dish. What impressed me even more was that the prosciutto was not overly salty and practically melted away without the need for a knife. The salmon was sizable, flawlessly cooked, tender, and buttery. The beans and escarole brought back fond memories from my childhood. Though I was quite full, I couldn't resist ending my meal with the espresso pot. Once again, it delivered that perfect flavor balance. I'm usually not a fan of overly sweet desserts, but here, the chocolate shone through without being cloying, and the house-made whipped cream was simply dreamy. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a meal this remarkable. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and its exceptional staff!

Absolutely wonderful. It was our second time there. Food was so good. This time we went for desert and a drink. The fried ice cream Sunday was ridiculously good, but what really put the experience over the top was our server. She served us both times we went and was personable and kind. We will be back for sure and I would highly recommend it for dinner or dessert.

Absolutely best Mediterranean food I've had in Rochester! It's a great atmosphere and the staff is extremely kind. They have a great selection of drinks and cocktails, and the food is just amazing. I especially recommend the lamb and the baklava, they were to die for.Food: 5/5
