City Of Rochester Public Market

I really enjoyed the Food Truck Rodeos with live music that take place on the last Wednesday of every month! They also offer excellent fruits and vegetables!

The restaurant features a wide selection of locally sourced products, and their empanadas are outstanding. There's an artistic house at one corner and a lovely garden filled with pears, lettuce, flowers, and herbs at another. This is truly one of my favorite aspects of living in Rochester.

Where have all the true farmers gone? Definitely not to this place. It’s been a year since I last visited the Rochester Public Market, and I can honestly say it was a letdown. The experience just wasn’t worth it! I’d prefer to go elsewhere and pay a premium for my produce.

As hard as it might be for people to believe this review when there are so many positive ones this place is truly a facade and not deserving of its praise. For starters 98% of the vendors are not actual farmers and are just selling imported boxed produce at prices the same or a bit higher than Wegmans. So to the reviews before me that say it’s better than wegmans, I promise you the prices are no different. This also hurts the few actual farmers because they have to sell their produce a slightly higher price because of the costs it takes them to grow the produce. As someone who is not a Rochester native and is from an area with actual Farmers markets I think this market is capitalizing on a city populations vague knowledge of a farmers market. The only reason I gave it two stars and not 1 or 0 is because of the local food truck and snack vendors who are deserving of support from the local population. Long story short don’t let this place fool you into thinking you are supporting local farmers and more sustainable shopping habits because it’s unfortunately not the case.

The public market is such a fun experience. I attend almost every Saturday. Vendors are so kind and love to chat with buyers. Inside the building is always clean and warm. From veggies/fruits to meats and seafood the market has something for someone. Little shops around it for delish meals. Open all year long Tues, Thurs and Sat. Sundays they have alternative events, as well as Food truck rodeo on wed during the summer.
