Service was very slow. Salad was good except for the steak which was very chewy. Restaurant added a 3% cost of business charge??! Just increase menu prices. Stop hiding fees. We know things are expensive.
The appetizers were excellent. Artichoke and Spinach Dip, and Korean chicken, and pretzels. My salad was very good- strawberry balsamic, but I added salmon- salmon was over cooked and had a big piece of skin still attached. While the skin while it is on a plate is easy enough to separate, it was not so easy on a salad. 2 people at our table went back and forth on a burger or the French dip- and on a recommendation of the waitress, they both got the French dip. We had never experienced a French dip before where the meat was blackened and crunchy. We didn’t send it back because we needed to leave- we had enough time for an hour and 45 minute dinner- and we were late. Atmosphere was good. Service was good. Proteins were all over cooked and underwhelming.
Walnut Grill was chosen for its reputation of quality food, service, convenient location, off Parkway West, and its outdoor dining. The choice of appetizers, bowl entrees, soups, salads, sandwiches, dinner entrees, desserts and drinks are plentiful, something for everyone whether vegan or otherwise. Our waiter Michael, waitress Kelsey, and the other staff that interacted with us were professional, exceptional, accommodating, thoughtful, courteous, helpful, attentive, respectful, gracious, kind, and caring. Michael went out of his way to make our dinner experience an exceptional one. The food was great, well prepared and presented. Our sincere thanks and gratitude to the professional staff at Walnut Grill. Our party is looking forward to returning in the near future.
Our server was great, but that's where it stopped. They had wine on special, but were out of almost everything, and our server had to go to the back multiple times, as the manager would only let her know if they had the bottle we ordered, instead of what was available. When our food came out, half of my wife's dinner was cold, and they got half of mine wrong. I did see that the server wrote mine correctly on the ticket, so it was a kitchen error. I eventually had my order corrected, to-go. My wife also ordered the wild mushroom chicken, but the mushrooms were not wild. That's a small thing, but not what we thought she was getting. Finally, my wife found a hair on her chicken, and we were done. They were gracious enough to not make us pay for her meal that she only had a few bites of, which is the minimum they should do, and the manager sat a couple of free appetizer coupons on our table despite us telling them we were only in town for a night.
