This appears to be a place where locals go, the owner was really friendly and spoke a bit of English (which helped with our limited Italian! . We had a fantastic Sicilian classic of Granita with Brioche for breakfast. It was probably the best brioche we've ever had light and buttery. Granita is a local specialty, originally from Sicily similar to sorbet but a but a little coarser. We sat outside and went for two pistachio Granita with small chunks of the nut, the coffee was also really good, sweet without the need for sugar and rich to taste. All for less than 10 EUR.
We've been living in Sicily for 3 summers now and this is where we had the best granita. Located in a fresh little street behind the fish/fruit market, this little bar offer granitas made with almonds, pistacchio or whatever fresh products they found. A must try !
First granita of the year, end januar, a bit too early and too cold, but. it was really such an experience. I tasted the pistacchio and unpeeled almond and I can sincerely say that these vote in the grapes that it is one of the best Sicilian granita prise prizing are a real truth. I loved all the nuts aromen, it seems a baked cream very strange and not too sweet perfect as well as for their not as sweet taste. the perfect lunch for summer and the perfect lunch of this rainy cool winter end of januarmorgens. santina la delfa aka sandy thirteen
