We informed the hostess of our decision, but she just looked at us as if we were unreasonable. There were only three other tables occupied inside and two outside. It was quite disappointing.
I recently moved nearby and decided to try TakeOut from this restaurant. My first order was clams with white sauce, and it was excellent—just like my own recipe. I returned several times for more. However, about six months ago, I ordered the same dish again, and when I got home, it was completely over-seasoned with pepper. I couldn’t eat it at all. I called the restaurant, but nothing was done to address my complaint—no credit, no resolution. After the new owners took over, I decided to give it another shot, but it was even worse! There was absolutely no flavor—no seasoning, no garlic, just oil, with a pile of spaghetti and clams on top. There were no herbs at all. I won’t be going back again. Save your $20 and make it yourself!
I ordered a BBQ pork sandwich, which came on Texas toast topped with American and cheddar cheese. It was a total disappointment. The BBQ sauce was overly sweet and tasted commercial rather than homemade. There was hardly any real flavor of pork, and the meat itself was scarce. I’m genuinely heartbroken that a pig had to give its life for this BBQ, which bore no resemblance to authentic pork. What a shame! My Caesar salad arrived lukewarm when it should have been cold. The dressing was decent, but it didn’t capture the essence of a true Caesar salad. The croutons were soft and somewhat stale, lacking the necessary crunch. Some members of my party mentioned that the turkey clubs were good, but the French fries were a letdown. It’s hard to mess up fries, but somehow they managed—either by using bad oil or cooking them improperly. The coleslaw had no flavor and was left untouched. Another diner ordered a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich on white bread, which was served un toasted and missing avocado, instead arriving as toasted wheat bread without any avocado. Her corn chowder was described as watery. I did try half of a chicken salad sandwich, which was decent enough, but I could easily make something similar at home. At $13, the BBQ pork grilled cheese was neither cheap nor tasty. Our waitress hardly checked on us throughout the meal and didn’t inquire if we needed anything or how we were enjoying our food. Perhaps she already knew? If you decide to go—though I wouldn’t recommend it—stick to a turkey club or burger. And don’t forget to bring some antacids for the French fries!
Stopped in for a late lunch during vacation in Wildwood. Firecracker shrimp wrap and the white balsamic dressing were amazing. Emily was a sweetheart and attentive server. I rarely review, esp. as soon as I leave and we’re barely out of the parking lot.
No sooner did my glass of wine hit the table... my appetizers, soups and meal all showed up at once. Felt very rushed. We have been coming here for 8 years. We love Surfing Pig , but Rio Station is our favorite spot every year we come down for Spring and Fall. New staff needs more training.
