Vecmeita Ar Kaķi - Riga

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of old town Riga is this delight of a restaurant. Honest cooking, well presented, no frills. We sampled goulash soup, fish soup, herrings with fried potatoes and cotage cheese as starters and pork fillet and chicken fillet as mains with sauerkraut on the side and all were excellent, standard of home cooking you cannot get in a commercial kitchen. Service was informal and friendly fell in love with the place.

My husband and I had a lovely meal with a bottle of wine. Great ambience, friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Choose the pasta with beef and the spare ribs with chips. Followed by the dessert specials of the day. Couldn’t fault the quality and taste of the meal

Great spot for lunch especially during the work week, when there are reduced prices for the business lunch. Delicious fish, excellent beet soup, fresh vegetables and salads; local beer, of course. Friendly service, with a menu in English if you need it. Lots of outdoor seating, but also a fantastic cellar restaurant and bar (don't forget to duck). I enjoyed it so much that I ate there twice during a five day visit to Riga ... and I hope to return.

Very good food and service. We ate meat meals. Beef was soft and tasty just delicious! Cute little restaurant. Can recommend!

This was our first visit to Riga and we really enjoyed our meal at this cute restaurant. Excellent food and service. Reasonably priced too. Lady who served us spoke excellent English too. Would highly recommend
