The friendly woman behind the counter greeted us and asked how she could assist. I hesitated at first, unsure if they had anything suitable for us, but to my surprise, they had a vegetarian burger with a chicken-style patty, as well as a gatsby filled with Fry's Chunky (a favorite vegan meat substitute) fried in locally sourced organic garlic oil. The portion size was enormous, so we opted for the gatsby. The massive sandwich, loaded with chips, fresh salad, and tasty meat strips, was a carb-lover's dream. We struggled to finish even half of it, but we were delighted with our delicious find. It was a satisfying meal that left us feeling pleasantly surprised by our culinary discovery.

My vegan friend and I walked along the main street in Riebeek West in search of a restaurant that could offer us more than just chips or salad. The massive white bread loaf was not ideal for low-carb diets, but the chips were flavorful, the salad fresh, and the meat strips delicious. We struggled to finish our meal but left feeling satisfied and grateful for our unexpected discovery.
