The Village Tavern - Ridgefield

I ordered shrimp poke, which costs $3.75 per shrimp. Unfortunately, the shrimp was spoiled to the point that I couldn't eat it. I requested a fresher batch, but they refused to replace it. The restaurant insisted that the shrimp was fine, yet I was still charged for all three. This is the first time I’ve encountered such poor service at a restaurant.

This restaurant experience was mediocre at best, and even a 2-star rating feels generous. The seared tuna was overcooked to the point of being inedible and was served with a disappointing "mango salsa" that consisted of large chunks of tomato and mango with no seasoning whatsoever. The prime ribeye was also overcooked. Even the dishes that were prepared correctly lacked flavor and were nothing memorable. I had high hopes for this new restaurant taking over the space, but I left feeling very disappointed. I would be surprised if this restaurant lasts much longer than its predecessor.

While the service wasn’t necessarily “slow,” and I have no complaints, it might feel a bit leisurely for some, particularly visitors from New York and other areas. The prices are reasonable, and the restaurant has a charming interior. There’s a full bar too, making it a great dinner option near the Ridgefield Playhouse venue. Kudos to the chef for bringing something different to the table! I will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

I took my mom to this restaurant for brunch on her 90th birthday two weeks ago, and the service was awful. For the first time, I gave only a 10% tip. I would have left nothing. But when I complained to the bartender saying it would help if they had morethen two servers and himself for the whole restaurant on a busy weekend when there was a street festival outside, he said heknew. They?d been asking the owner to hire more people and they wouldn?t. We had to flag down the server to order and to getour water refilled. She never did it. So we went to the bar ourselves to get the water pitcher. One entree came out like 20minutes after the first. We had to ask the other server to check on it, because our server was nowhere to be found. We had to goto the bar to get the check and pay. And he gave us the check of the table next to us and vice versa. He apologized and saidhe?d fix it. I should have insisted on a refund credit slip, because today I got my credit card bill, and there were chargesfor both checks. I called and asked to speak to a manager, who I was told was outside. I waited on hold for 12 minutes andfinally hung up. Now I have to go through the hassle of filing a dispute with my credit card company. Oh, and the food wasnothing special.

Fantastic experience! Sunday afternoon offered beautiful weather on the patio or NFL inside. We ordered truffle mushroom Parmesan gnocchi (AMAZING) Brussels sprouts were fantastic and great selection of wine/ beer but also have a full bar. Greatfor couples, kids, families and furbabies!
