Chi Star House - Richmond Hill

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, my wife and I wanted something unique and delicious. We decided to order in advance to try the chicken wrapped in sponge cake and the "five-flavored duck" from this restaurant. However, when my wife arrived to pick up the order, they had forgotten to prepare the chicken dish.

We had been to this restaurant before, but this time we decided to try their lobster meal special. The service was excellent and our dinner arrived just minutes after we ordered. The meal included baked lobster, sweet and sour pork, pork, and fried rice. The dinner came with a side dish and a drink. We were very satisfied with both the dinner and the service. Five stars!

For those Cantonese food lovers who were heartbroken by the closures of Judy's Kitchen and Maple Yip, Chi-Star in Richmond Hill is here to save the day! The dinner I had tonight not only rivaled some of the best offerings from Maple Yip/Judy, but in several cases, the dishes we ordered even surpassed the excellent quality and deliciousness of those defunct companies! Similar to Maple Yip, making a reservation in advance is a must - when we left, people were lining up all the way out the door! The four of us ordered delicious dishes: steamed whole live Thai gobi fish, crispy fried yellow eel, silky tofu and shrimp stir-fry, half-sweet wok-roasted pork belly, and stir-fried morning glory. Each dish was worthy of praise, from the perfectly cooked fish with umami-filled soy sauce to the wok-hei loaded stir-fry meat. We will definitely be returning to try out more of their authentic Cantonese menu. Our bottle of Alsace Riesling paired perfectly with the slightly sweet dishes, while the La Tour Blanche Sauternes matched beautifully with the complimentary Chinese dessert. Overall, it was a great dining experience with fantastic food, wine, and service - what a lovely night!

Sunday we went to markham for a visit to Chinese food. this restaurant in leslie and hywy ordered lunch by hummer nudel with spring onions and ingwer seafood fried rice and choi sum order in min. delicious! bill was inclusive drinking money, no alcohol we enjoyed it! star ratings. phare

When I first heard the Chinese name of the Chi Star House, and according to convention, I thought it was a Hong Kong style cafe, and I was expecting to order Pork Chop with Rice with Mushroom sauce. Then we entered and notice large tanks...with live fish, crabs and lobsters. We changed our course and accepted the manager's recommendations of steamed fish and roasted pigeon. The Thai Goby fish was as good as any steamed fish I've had in Toronto over the past years. The Roast Pigeon was moist and flavourful. Not to forget about its Cafe name, we ordered a Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Beef, which had plenty of Wok Hay, the Chi of the Wok. All excellent. It is more than a Hong Kong cafe, it is a great Cantonese Restaurant.
