Max's Positive Vibe Café - Richmond

I dined at Max's for the first time, despite having heard about it for years. I was technically there to see a band, but I also enjoyed a nice dinner. The acoustics were impressive, and the band, The Hullabaloo's, sounded fantastic. As for the food, it was delicious. I ordered the winter soup and a half sandwich. The soup was a delightful mix of butternut squash and pumpkin puree, enhanced with spices, bourbon, and cream, and topped with toasted almonds and pumpkin seeds. The sandwich was a grilled masterpiece, featuring turkey, brie cheese, spinach, and cranberries. Both dishes were excellent. Our waitress, who also served as the bartender, added to our experience with her cheerful demeanor; she was genuinely happy to be there, always smiling, polite, and attentive.

We absolutely love Max's, and the food is delicious! There isn't a single special that disappoints. The cocktails are out of this world. Pictured are the Dirty Snowman, the Apple Spiced Bellini, and a few of the weekly specials.

I made my first visit today for lunch and was immediately impressed by the cozy atmosphere in the room. All employees were welcoming and actually seemed to care for their jobs – a rarety in many restaurants in this price class! My medium-sized Bisonburger was excellent. On my next visit, I'm going over the sweet potatoes for her apple-wine slave. (I can be seduced into ordering the vegan Calamari, especially from curiosity - heart of the palm instead of squid or octopus. All in all, it was a very pleasant lunch. We have to go back to dinner menu.

A perfect culinary experience. The food is exceptional, always served the best burgers and do not forget to ask for the sweet potatories! Seafood dishes are delicious and are paired with the freshest vegetables and herbs. Vegan is always an option! You can always count on the freshest ingredients and a beautiful presentation. The waiters are great. You can easily get Tweaks to your order extra this and nothing of it, or like via a substitute ingredient. My drink is never more than half empty and do not forget to leave room for homemade desserts! Always friendly and attentive. You don't want to miss this jewel. Also locally owned.

Vegan and vegetarian options! This our go-to place when we can’t decide where to eat because their food is so good and have quite a variety. Good beer selection. Not a great wine selection. Full bar. Live music on some nights. The music is good but it can be loud so check for live music before you go if that’s not your thing.
