Max's On Broad - Richmond

We go there every year for Thanksgiving? this year it seems to have gone down hill a lot. The green beans were raw, hard as wood, the turkey white meat? What the hell were those hard bits in it? Felt like knuckles in my mouth? The bartender? Made me the wrong drink and then told me the drink I?d ordered wasn?t ? on the menu? even though they?d taken my order, then made the wrong drink! Wait staff was excellent. Food? Not so much.

GREAT, AWESOME, French Cuisine. Lavender our Waitress and Gina the Manager just made it a date night with my wife to remember forever. Great Layout, Great Menu. I met the Chef and gave him my compliments. I was even surprised by running into Oshea Jackson Jr. there. There's just nothing more for me to say but that. TY Staff of Max's for once again making it a night to remember.

Max's is nice enough, but when you have a ton of nice enough options like we do here in Richmond, you expect a little bit better than what we got on our most recent trip here. I booked a dinner reservation for my parents and me to celebrate a birthday. We arrived early (a first for us! and were told they couldn't seat us yet. Totally understand! So we went to the bar, where we proceeded to sit and be ignored by the bartender for 15 minutes. There were 3 other groups

Such a lovely place, great for date night. Second floor is very private and quiet, which I was looking for. Started off with fried oysters, which were fresh and prepared very tasty. Also had Max's poutine, loaded french fries, which was nice, but I'm not huge fan of that dish. I had their special of the night, which was recommended by server, chimichuri steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, such a great combination of flavours, I really enjoyed it. Shrimp grits was

Fantastic. Just moved to Jackson Ward and am still eating my way through, this place is a gem. We were able to get a table by the bar on a Friday night, without reservations for the two of us. Great service, delicious cocktails, ambiance is cozy, details are thoughtful, and just amazing food. Was just really special to experience something refined just a walk away from my house and it made our Valentine weekend so special.
