Casa Del Barco Canal Walk - Richmond

Have always loved this place. Love the tacos, the vibe, the margs, and, most of all, our server Sydney was THE BEST.

The food was great, service was even better. Our server, Misch, was very attentive throughout our entire meal and made our experience great for our first time at Casa. Will be returning!

Gracie was amazing!!!! Gave great recommendations for food and was so attentive to us! She made our dining experience very lovely and we enjoyed the atmosphere because of her!

Saturday 12/16/23 2:40 Never been to a more modern Mexican restaurant if you will. So I had a few questions. If you read any of my other reviews, you know I don't like spicy food so that's always a challenge for me especially at a Mexican restaurant because a lot of the food is spicy. So they do not serve chips and salsa with their food like a traditional Mexican restaurant will. They're considered like a side order and cost separate.. I do think the restaurant is decorative and it's definitely a family style restaurant or a date restaurant or hang out spot. I ordered a steak taco and a fish taco. I also ordered some Mexican street corn which they volunteered to take off the cob for me which is awesome. I don't have to worry about being a messy.. and I also ordered some rice. The chips and salsa the chips are chips. The salsa was kind of tomato and thick. I do like chunks of vegetables in my salsa, which this was puréed.. It was a tad spicy but bearable. Initially, I did not like it because it was the consistency. But after a few bites, taste pretty good. Steak taco I found the sauce on the steak taco to be spicy, a little more than I like. I'm assuming it's a ribeye. Because the other steak tacos say it's ribeye and if that's the case it's pretty tough not tinder. I would probably not order this one again.. that's because of my personal tastebuds. Fish taco my first fish taco and I must say all the different flavors makes my mouth happy Rice taste, OK. It's not great, but it is good. It almost tastes, like there's some perfume in it or something. Must be a particular kind of seasoning. I just can't figure it out. Street corn the Mexican street corn is very tasty. Sweet tea perfect The waitress is awesome!!! Midway through my meal a young man took over her section.

I was at CDB last night with four others around 6pm. The service was so slow we sat with empty drinks for 20 minutes before going to find our server and then our second round of drinks (which weren't as good as the first) didn't show up until after we were finished with our meals which also took a long time to arrive. On top of that, they have you pay table side on a handheld machine (ie. No print out receipt) and we were not told that tip was included. So we (generously, considering the poor service) tipped 20% on top of a tab that already included 20% which we realized on our way home re looking at menu prices talking about how expensive the meal was. We have loved this Casa Del Barco in the past but are unlikely to go back.
