Carmela’s - Richmond

We've been on the hunt for best pizza in Richmond, and Carmela's is certainly in the running. Nothing beats a classic Margherita, which when done well, is the mark of a solid pizza joint. The pizza is wood-fired with a crust that holds its form; the mozzarella is fresh and melty; and the sauce has just a hint of sweetness- the way I like it! We came for the pizza but we stayed for the cozy, romantic atmosphere. Only downside is tricky downtown parking. We will be back very soon for another date night and will also take my Italian family here!

Cute little restaurant down in shockhoe bottom, pizza was pretty solid, prices were fair. Can't really complain!

Honestly it was the worst pizza I've ever had. It has no flavor at all. Paid 2$ for extra cheese for it to barely have any. Asked for fresh basil and garlic... got GIANT piles of garlic and no basil. The pepperoni is grinded up and you cant even taste it. The sauce was blander than bottle sauce. The pizza i got was nlthing like the pictures i see.

The Vibes were perfect, the staff was friendly, and the service was fast also near the opening hours on a Saturday night. And the food. The food was wonderful. I have to share the Prosciutto and Argula pizza and I have smeared every crispy bite. So much that I almost forgot to take a picture until we were close! More than cheap if you share a pizza, I am very happy to go back soon.
