After visiting the temple, we stopped by Ryuu at the McArthur Glen shopping centre for an early lunch. We enjoyed a variety of dishes including tempura udon, stir fried beef udon, scallop roll, smoked salmon poke bowl, corn croquettes with rice, miso soup, salad, chicken karage, pork cutlet, beef ramen, deep fried squid, and short ribs. The menu offered a wide selection of choices and the food was delicious. The service was also great.
To make matters worse, we were given paper cups with our tea and when I requested ice water, the waitress brought a jug of water without any cups. This meant that if we wanted water, we would have to finish our tea or pour it back into the teapot. The service we received was unfriendly and it felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. Additionally, there were no restroom facilities on-site, forcing us to use the public washroom outside which required climbing a long flight of stairs. This setup was not convenient for seniors or individuals with mobility issues. The final straw was the mandatory 12% gratuity added to our bill without our consent. I would recommend avoiding this establishment as the food quality is poor and the service is even worse.
I had lunch with a friend at Ryuu at McArthur Glen yesterday. The Teriyaki beef was tasteless and mostly rice, not much beef, not much sauce with two carrot coins and a piece of broccoli, the rest was onions. I've had better at Edo. The server brought tea with paper cups. We asked for water and were brought a jug, but no extra cups. When we got the bill, there was a 12% service charge a forced tip. The staff seemed to be disinterested in the service. I do not recommend this place. It was a huge disappointment.
12% autograt on marked up prices for the most below average food. Extremely disappointing. Go somewhere else.
