Contribuiți la feedbackThis is my first Google review ever, and that also shows how upset and frustrated I am. I usually avoid publicizing unfortunate situations and would choose to solve any issues privately. In this case, I tried to take matters at the time of, but the staff with glasses and a hairnet at cash (assuming she/her) was not apologetic at all. This was the first time I came here. In this restaurant, the menu is at the door we are asked to order beforehand even if we were to dine in. The menu does a good job labelling what’s vegan and what isn’t (which I acknowledge is great, because I’m strictly vegan and have lots of allergies). We ordered a few dishes totalling up to $61 and tipped since we were dining in.Once I ordered and sat down to wait, just around 5 mins after, I noticed that I forgot to ask whether any food item has peanuts in it, so I lined up again, waiting around 15 mins to ask since there were others in front of me. By the time I got to cash again, I was informed that one of the dishes which we ordered, the Taiwanese Chow Mien Vegan (also menu picture below) has Satay sauce, and the others “should” be fine. I asked politely whether they can make another one. Immediately, this staff blamed me and said that it’s already made and they won’t be able to do another one because I should have disclosed any allergies beforehand. I quietly sat down as I recognize that it was my fault. While waiting, I realized that the reason why I didn’t think to ask was because the menu didn’t highlight “peanuts” at all. I came up to the register again, and just kindly reminded them that it was important to highlight these allergens. The staff defensively said that “It is common sense to be letting the restaurant know about your allergies since there’s so many ingredients”. Fair statement, I agree to that, but I also did let them know as soon as the line up was gone, and they just chose not to do anything about it. Additionally, I also mentioned that that peanuts, amongst a few others food items are common allergies, and I’ve never encountered any issues while being vegan for the the past 7 years and being allergic to peanuts (amongst 20+ things) all my life (even in town and when travelling). The staff then started giving me a life lesson and said that she’s allergic to hazelnut and would always mention it all the time, and that I should have done that. I appreciate the concern, but as an established restaurant, I think labelling your food items properly is important. My main issue with this situation is that the staff chose to respond defensively, blamed me, essentially told me how how I should be living my life regardless of knowing that I’ve been having dietary restrictions (vegan) for the past 7 years and 20+ allergies all my life. In the most severe cases, mislabelling or in this situation, the lack of labelling, could have led to death. At the end, their resolution was to refund my tip because they didn 't ask for it , which was a bit silly because it was meant as an extra appreciation of their service/work. A simple apology or “I’ll look into listing my allergens or updating my menu” would have resolved it for me.On a side note, even with dine in, this place only uses take out container and they don 't offer water at all. Compared to other Taiwanese vegetarian/vegan food that I 've had, the quality and taste of the food that is produced here is not worth the price, the service they provide, and the waste they create.Dietary restrictions: Not accommodating to allergies!
I love the food here. I've tried many of there dishes and everything I've eaten has been delicious. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that they used only disposable dishes etc., even when dinning in. I switched to vegetarian/vegan for environmental reasons, so it makes eating here a little hard to justify.
The pandemic complicates everything. Fortunately, the quality of Taiwanese restaurants is still at a good level. Every time I order a meal, I look forward to getting a takeaway to go home to enjoy. The takeaway I ordered this time is also of a high standard. All meals are of the same high quality. Parking is really difficult. But there is an added bonus for takeout, which saves us the hassle of parking. I really miss the dining atmosphere in the store before, but in order to maintain the health of all people, I can understand the necessity of dining rules. The only downside is that there is no teriyaki vegetarian noodle for takeaway today.By the way, 4 stones has best brown rice and we always enjoy our orders.
This is far and a way the best vegan food in the lower mainland. Most flavourful, most interesting. Big portions. The person at the counter was great at explaining what everything was, and was very conscientious to mention anything with egg or dairy. Order from here asap! Get the Kong Pao Tofu Nugget Bento Combo
Legitimately the best, most filling, utterly delicious vegetarian food I've had in a long time. I'll happily rave this place to anyone who will listen. The Bentos are 2 meals worth and the katsu had even my meat eating friends hooked.
