Contribuiți la feedback What an experience this place is. After a lovely stroll around Fair Snape Fell, which I highly recommend, we decided to stop for the obligatory post-stroll refreshment. We took the longer route home because we fancied one at The Swan With Two Necks in Pendleton. Having been there on my own with a friend before, I was keen to introduce the place to my husband, son, and mum, and it was well deserved after that walk. As is the custom after a long walk, Little Man started catching flies as soon as we got in the car, so I sent John into the pub to scout out seats before I disturbed him. John texted that he had found a free table, so happy days, in we go. As we sit down, the owner, Steve, approached and asked if we had reserved a table. We hadn 't, we just popped in for a quick drink. He then told us that we need to move then. A little taken aback by the lack of people skills, we got up, and my husband did say that he had thoroughly checked for a reserved sign, to be told that We don 't use reserved signs, just like we don 't electrify the tables, and next time, check with the people in charge. He then told us to follow him to a table where we could sit, and he was still going at it like a dog with a bone all the way there. So, we turned around and said, no thank you, he was rude, and we had no intention of staying, to which he replied, Right, off you go then! What an utterly bizarre experience, it was like stepping through a portal where manners and people skills were no longer prerequisites for being a civil person. There are all these social media posts about 36 years in the business and about Lancashire pub of the year, and it 's beyond comprehension that this same, rude, condescending, arrogant person is one of the same. I 'd never suggest that anyone avoids a local business; it 's not in my nature. However, if you do choose to go there, make sure you have a thick skin and you don 't have any issues with being treated appallingly.
This pub is a hidden gem! They offer a variety of beers at affordable prices and have a decent menu. I usually come for a light afternoon snack, but decided to try their lunch menu this time. The Cheese Onion pie could use some improvement, and the beef ale could benefit from a better beer selection. However, overall, I have no complaints as the food was hot and satisfying. The sticky toffee pudding was outstanding and with a few tweaks, this pub could easily be the best in the area. I rate it 8/10.
We came here for a birthday lunch and everything was fantastic. The food was excellent and there were plenty of options on the menu for starters, mains, and desserts. The dishes were all well-cooked, homemade, and served hot. The service was excellent throughout the meal. The restaurant also had a great car park and the small hamlet it was located in was very interesting, especially the church.
The Swan With Two Necks is picture perfect, in a really pretty Lancashire village. The food is excellent , we have never been disappointed and the portions are generous. The cheese and onion pie is the best I 've ever had, and the peppered steak pie my husband had was in his words absolutely the very best Chatty friendly helpful staff, and a cosy fire. Today every table had an Easter Bunny on it, and the dining room ceiling had hundreds of small Easter eggs hanging from twigs, so pretty. Also today the pub has just been awarded THE WINNER OF LACASHIRE AND NORTH WEST PUB by CAMRA NEED I SAY MORE !!!
I'm not one for usually leaving bad reviews, i would prefer to leave positive comments but i feel i had to comment about this place. Driving back from a lovely day in clitheroe and spotted the signs for this place so called in for what we thought would be a lovely meal. How wrong were we! We should have turned around when we were met with the bad attitude of the owner, she acted like we were doing her a favour. We were sat upstairs in what i can only describe as a dark room that hadn't been decorated for years. We expected a menu of good home cooked food. There wasn't a lot of choice so i had the lasagne and the other 3 had pie. The lasagne tasted nothing better than a frozen meal you would buy from a supermarket. The least you would expect from a pub that claims to have won numerous awards (i don't know how! is home cut chips but they were deep fried greasy frozen chips and the pies weren't much better. It is definitley overpriced for what they serve. We all agreed it was not a good experience and to anyone who hasn't been before...do yourself a favour and don't bother!
