Despite the owner's modest claim that they only do takeaways now, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We enjoyed delicious BLT sandwiches with freshly cooked bacon from a proper butcher. The bap itself was incredibly fresh, especially for a Sunday. We sat outside on the lawn, reading newspapers purchased from the shop and observing locals stopping by to grab their own sandwiches (clearly, this place is well-loved). To finish off our meal, we indulged in some homemade coffee and walnut cake. It was absolutely delicious!
This place is excellent. The food is beautiful and the sandwiches are hearty. They also have a well-stocked shop. Tim is a fantastic chef and very friendly and welcoming.
Called in and had a most delicious piece of carrot cake and a good cup of tea. This is an old style tearoom connected to the local shop ,the owner is a really nice guy and very accommodating.
I was extremely disappointed after dining at this restaurant, especially since I have been there many times before. The menu was limited, which I can understand given the current circumstances, but I expected more attention to detail. While the monkfish main dish was delicious, all three of us who ordered sirloin steaks were equally disappointed. At £29, we had higher expectations. The overall service was lacking, and it will be difficult to convince me to return, which is unfortunate.
Been coming here for years now, probably 20. Tim is a great host and great chef. He’s friendly and welcoming. We decided to have our wedding reception here and he was amazing a wonderful meal even made us a cake because travelling from South Kirkby Pontefract we couldn’t take our wedding cake.
