The Tavern At The Beekman Arms

My favorite restaurant! The service is outstanding, making dining in a delightful experience. I usually go there for dinner, and I find the price per person ranges from $50 to $100. The food receives a perfect score of 5, as does the service and atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the Braised Lamb Shank—it's a must!

Whatever you do, don't order the steak. They really don't know how to cook it. My medium-rare steak arrived burnt, overcooked, and dry. I sent it back, and the second one took 30 minutes to come back. It was an improvement—slightly better and more medium-well to well done, but at least it wasn't burnt this time. On the bright side, my wife's dish was good, so overall, I can only give the food 2 stars. The atmosphere was nice, and the servers and bussers were friendly and attentive. However, I wouldn't return for a meal. I might consider stopping by for a cocktail in the garden or bar, though. They made a fantastic old fashioned that I really enjoyed.

The restaurant is housed in a colonial era inn, and it has that feeling with paintings, fireplace, and appointments. My wife raved about the Manhattan clam chowder, and the short rib pot roast was tender and flavorful. And the service was great.
