Contribuiți la feedbackI recently had the opportunity to try out the newly opened Santa Fe restaurant for a traditional Basque dinner. It was a nice change to have another option for Basque dining in town, in addition to Louie's. While the exterior of the restaurant still seems a bit outdated and could use a refresh, the interior was spotless and well-done. The drinks were tasty, the food and service were impressive, although slightly on the pricier side compared to their competition. The meal was served family-style in the Basque tradition, starting with soup, salad, beans, and entrees, along with a generous serving of fries. I opted for the oxtail, which was delicious. Some in our group ordered the strip steak, which came out rarer than they had requested, while the lamb shank was delicious and perfectly cooked. The only thing missing was the typical first course that is often included in Basque dining experiences, usually a chicken dish. The beans were a highlight among the appetizers. The prices were slightly higher at Santa Fe compared to Louie's, the other Basque restaurant in downtown Reno, which also includes the first course. It would be beneficial for both restaurants to consider aligning their prices to ensure a fair distribution of business. Overall, it was a great night out with excellent service and a clean environment. The bar is also worth a visit before an Aces game or for a casual night out in Reno.
It's great to see the Santa Fe restaurant open again. The renovations are nice and there were a lot of people in the bar celebrating New Year's Eve. We sat with a friendly couple who were visiting town for vacation. We enjoyed the Basque tradition of family-style dining. The opening salad and soup were both excellent. We also ordered some delicious beans and decent French fries. The large and tender chicken drumsticks were enjoyable as well. We tried the rib eye and leg of lamb, both seasoned well but a bit tough and dry. Unfortunately, they were out of tongue, tail, and lamb shanks that night. Overall, it was a nice way to end the year and we hope to come back soon.
A group of 23 friends gathered at The Santa Fe Hotel for dinner. Despite having reservations for 20, they were able to accommodate us without issue. We were seated in a spacious private room that was tastefully decorated. The service was exceptional and very friendly. We were served wine and generous portions of sourdough bread, butter, crisp salads, delicious vegetable soup, beans, and possibly the best fries I've ever had at a Basque restaurant. Our entrees were all delicious and there was plenty to share, with takeout containers provided for leftovers. We had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Kudos to the new owner for creating a beautiful dining experience perfect for large group family-style dinners.
Went here for a friends birthday. Hadn't been here in years so I was interested in seeing how it changed and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and the service was awesome. My daughter came in on her crutches and the bartender immediately came over and asked how she was. It was a nice way to be greeted especially with his big smile. The two waitresses were so nice it made you really feel like they wanted you to be there. The soup was incredible and the salad along with the hot beans were so unique and great. I had the oxtail and it was fork tender. Other dishes included the salmon (could have used a sauce), ribeye and lamb shank. Everyone had more than enough food and all of it was great. The French fries tasted as good as any I've ever had. Would absolutely come back again. Good job to the owners!!!
Great feel, while it has been updated it is still old downtown. Lamb sandwich was really good and the tongue sandwich was amazing. Picons were different from the JT, Martin and Star they were very good. Prices were reasonable. Come here and support this historic restaurant. Service was very good.
