Sat inside at the restaurant. Ordered the sausages with sauerkraut and the potato soup. Both were very good. Three reasons for the rating. First, they charge a euro for each bread baguette but don’t tell you that until you get the bill. They put...a basket of on the table when you sit down. They seem to put the unused ones back in the communal baskets so may be unsanitary. Certainly should tell you about cost up front. Second, cash only but not disclosed up front. Third, service is polite but apathetic. Took a while to get mustard, never came back for more drinks. In retrospect, I would have braved the lines outside and gotten it from the to-go place next door. It’s a good lunch for euros. Overpriced for
How can you not eat the slightly overpriced, but very tasty, bratwurst, sauerkraut and bread at the world's oldest restaurant (according to Travel and Leisure), founded somewhere around the century. The red wine is pricey too, but it's their own production and one...of the best we tried on our trip. Beer was great too. Beautiful setting by the old bridge, legend had it that it was founded for the bridge builders, completes the package.
Upon arrival to Regensburg, the hotel desk clerks gave this place a strong recommendation to dine at this historic Würst kitchen. My wife and I immediately walked here expecting to do so. It is ideally located on the water with stunning views. We started with...a couple of beers since it was a little early for dinner. This clearly struck a nerve with the waiter as most people must order food when they order drinks. That's not how we roll. When we ordered a second beer, he again wanted us ot order food; however, it was still only in the afternoon. He got us the beer and slammed them down on the table. This gave me the indication that no matter how great the sausages must be, I do not need to invest another euro here. We paid our bill and left. I hope he learns how not to scare people off!
Situated on the banks of the Danube by the picturesque old bridge, this kitchen claims to be the oldest restaurant in the world. The restaurant is quite famous and thus is often quite busy, so visiting during peak hours may see queues. As the name...suggests, the restaurant specialises in sausages.
