Donato Enoteca - Redwood City

This was my fourth or fifth visit to this restaurant, and this time I brought two friends along. One of them declared it the best Italian restaurant she has ever been to outside of Italy, and I completely agree! Everything we tried was delicious. The cocktails were fantastic, and while the wine selection was extensive, it was all good. I opted for the prix fixe menu, which had a hint of fall flavors, and it did not disappoint! I started with cantaloupe and prosciutto, followed by pappardelle with roasted butternut squash for the main course, and I finished with a butternut squash panna cotta. Each dish was incredible! The panna cotta was impressively creative; you could taste the sweetness of the squash without it being too sugary. It was delightful! One of my friends had the arugula salad with a simple yet amazing lemon dressing, and she even asked the chef for the recipe. She also had buckwheat pasta with mushrooms and practically licked her plate clean. The service was as excellent as the food. I highly recommend this place for a casual dinner, a date night, or a special occasion.

We attended our first Sunday Pizza night, and it exceeded our expectations! The variety of pizzas was fantastic! The salad and dessert added a special touch to the evening, all at an affordable price!

I love going to Donato's and having dinner at the chef's counter. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is always excellent. The drinks are very good but the menu is hit or miss. Unfortunately, during my last visit there were more misses than hits among the four items my friend and I ordered, including the dry focaccia that came with an appetizer and the side of bread that was also too dry.

Donato Enoteca in Redwood City offers an authentic Italian culinary experience without pretension. With fresh ingredients and exceptional pizza, the place lives up to expectations. I opted for the waiter’s recommendation and was not disappointed. I accompanied my meal with a refreshing Moscow Mule that perfectly complemented my choice. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance welcoming. Their extensive wine selection and club offer options for every taste. Although I only tried the pizza on this visit, I am eager to return and explore more of the delicious menu they offer.

Truly outstanding Italian food. We had the gamberi, branzino and angnolotti, the latter of which was stunning right out of Italy. This is Italian food you find in Italy, not amercianized Italian food. Our waiter Christian was superb and he's a somme. He recommended an Etna Rosso that was sensational. Can't say enough about Donato. Bravissimo!
