O Chana Do Bernardino - Redondo

We enjoyed a convivial and authentic lunch here after our hike to the nearby chapel on the hill. Excellent service, Delicious local specialties and wine; cheeses from the local sheep, marinated red and green peppers, fried sardines, gazpacho, grilled pork. If we were staying longer in the area, I would have been happy to eat here every night!

Me and my husband ate twice at Chana since it was very close to our hotel. The manager (owner? is super nice. The food is very good and traditional but everything is overpriced (I guess it’s a trend all over Alentejo now... . Don’t miss the tomato soup and the barbecued secretos!

Don 't wait for anything luxurious. The restaurant is typical and serves honest dishes, prepared with care and good ingredients. The owner, Mr. Bernardino, informs those who arrive by the first time he only speaks Portuguese and that the dishes they prepare are traditional Alentejana (which means, please, don 't ask for hamburgers and fries). Ingredients are local and fresh as well as the wine. Not cheap at all, but a must see in Aldeia da Serra

Comimos un cocido con poca variedad de ingredientes que nos pareció bastante caro. Había que pagar forzosamente en efectivo, pero la cuenta la presentaban escrita a bolígrafo en una libreta. Ni factura ni ticket ni hoja.
