The Blue Steak - Redditch

Food was OK, well presented and tasty. My chicken main course was tough, but we only paid £29 for three courses, proseccio and coffee for two. So, for the price it was good value. Pleasant waiting staff, all very young. I don't think I would have liked it as much at full price.

The restaurant is clean and presentable. Felt more like a pub than a restaurant really as there were quite a lot of contractors having a laugh and not eating. This wasn't really a problem but more of an observation. I had a mixed grill which I was happy with apart from the chips being overcooked and a bit hard.... My partner had a steak and was very under cooked to what we she'd ordered. We sent it back to the kitchen, I assume then it was washed under the tap to remove the peppercorn sauce which had been put on it and put back on the grill, it came back out very charred and pretty ruined. The staff didn't seem overly concerned and we weren't once asked if everything was ok with our meals, it took us a while to initially flag down the one waitress who seemed to be serving behind the bar and waiting the tables. The desert had rock hard sweets in and could of potentially been dangerous if served to a child..... Disappointed with our experience... Wouldn't go back

Some of the food on the plate was cold, poor quality food, poor quality gammon/sausage/cheap frozen chips/tough steak need i say more

Lovely chips,burger was ok,breakfast great,the serving staff were really busy but helpful, polite and smiling.

The restaurant although lacking slightly in atmosphere, could have been pleasant if the woman who showed us to our table had welcomed us and been friendly. Instead she seemed affronted that we asked to sit at a largest table even though the place was almost empty and remained so all night. But we did what we were told. She then appeared annoyed that we hadn't read the menu on line so presumedly asked too many questions so we were passed us over to a pleasant waitress but by then we had been made to feel so unwelcome we just wanted to leave. The fish cake seemed to have been deep fired or at least had a lot of fat, the fillet steaks were the worst we have had for a long time. I think this restaurant seems happy with the lone dinners from the hotel and anyone else is a nuisance. What a waste. We eat out regularly and were looking for somewhere local but would never go back. If you want hostile, this is the place.
