Nice pub/hotel chain in Guisborough off a busy main dual carriageway (be careful when pulling in if you haven 't been before and indicate early for other cars ' safety . Nice rustic setting with a lovely view of Roseberry Topping (before it 's ruined by a caravan park . Staff are friendly and welcome. Food is good quality. Nice atmosphere. On the flipside, as a 'scran man ' I found the portions a little meagre (compared to, say, the Norman Conquest down the road which provides massive portions at cheaper prices . Prices are therefore quite dear in this regard. Wait time for food was quite long too, despite it being relatively quiet (5pm on a Thursday . Overall, brilliant surroundings and atmosphere but the actual food side could be better.
This is ok, not great. Located right next to an A road, it is very noisy for sleep. We arrived late at night, with a huge car park, you won’t have bother getting a space. The outside seating was really pretty, with the lights dangling from the trees. We got our key from the night Porter and grabbed some snacks from the vending machine (contactless card payment accepted). The room was alright, functional and clean looking. I was not impressed by the dirty bath towel, that is disgusting and clearly was missed by housekeeping. Also, the TV did not work; switches on but no channels? Weird and irritating. I didn’t get any sleep, because I opened the window for fresh air, so every car going past woke me up, with the noise and the headlights. Breakfast- the staff were friendly and quick to serve. Only problem was the loud dance music being played in the kitchen, this wasn’t that nice during breakfast. The breakfast itself was a bit naff; cheap and nasty sausage, the mushrooms were rubbery. I just think it could have been a bit more pleasant, but you can’t win them all. The coffee was decent. Except for the cooked breakfast, the continental one was open, grabbed two croissants and some fruit juice. This place should be better, considering it belongs to a huge company like Greene King. I wouldn’t return here.
Pleasant interior with some character. Our meal was good, thank you we enjoyed it. Staff forgot us after our main course despite bringing us dessert menus, discussing we would be ordering dessert as we were brought the menus. Only 2 tables including us were present by this time. In the end we left the person who served us took our payment. No comment re failing to return to take our order, no comment re had everything been ok\had we enjoyed our meal. She had checked this earlier during our main course. It wasn't a busy session weekday late lunchtime. A pity, as we get little opportunity to eat out on weekdays and hadn't been here for while. A little more customer care would have been nice. 4 staff present when we left 2 during our time there so not run off their feet.
Came in today and received a warm and friendly greeting by the lovely staff. Ordered the garlic bread which tasted beautifully as always as we always order, then things went downhill. Waited and waited for our order. A couple came in and sat down then another couple came in and 10 minutes later party of 8 arrived a good 20 minutes after we did and all got served before us which is when two of us got up and went outside waiting for the third of us 3 to join us in going elsewhere. When he texted us that it had arrived finally! The beef was pink and almost still mooing like our friends meat was. Vegetables were cold like the meat, and could not eat the meal. Asked for the Yorkshire pudding assuming it was an option for the dish it arrived as an extra and arrived cool. Thinking on I'd have to say the whole meal was and the plates were clearly left ignored and I suppose it was due to the party of 8 (served before us as I said before but however there were enough staff to lend a hand rather than hang around at the seating area chit chatting and letting the young waiters do it all the poor lads. Anybody that knows me will say that I never leave my plate empty but on this occasion I did (because in some places where it says all you can eat is a personal challenge! Upon paying we were asked how it was and upon telling her she looked around to see if it was alright to offer a discount while she was being observed and clearly making her look nervous. So like other sarky replies you've given to other people's reviews, I look forward to receiving mine. Regards David.
