The building is grade 2 listed, a typical Victorian pub which retains an old style bar, a true drinking room. The no mobiles rule is strictly adhered to so people talk to each other. The landlord is friendly, the customers are friendly! We drank Old Brewery Bitter served by handpump and from an Oak cask. It was fit as a butchers dog. We just stumbled on this pub,a pleasant surprise after a 13 mile up and downhill walk. The other pubs in Guisborough are nothing to write home about , this one makes up for all the others!
We were 9 of us playing games and drinking in the back room . No TV or canned music . It was warm coat and drinks were good . At the moment they do not serve food just bar nibbles . But the beer and ambience was good . Well done .
Rented a small cottage in guisborough next door to this pub. Popped in for a pint before we heading home as it always looked a good place to have a drink. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend a visit. An extremely friendly landlord and landlady in a very pleasant environment. My only regret is that I hadn’t popped in sooner but will definitely be drinking there when I come back.
Visited today. A really old fashioned pub with a fantastic atmosphere. A real sense of community here. Really affable manager keen to make this a really successful enterprise. By far the best pub I’ve been in for ages.
Won 't ever bother going here again. No Dogs . Fine, dog can 't come in and I won 't be either. Plenty of other pubs in town that do allow dogs.
