Pappas' Sweet Shop - Raton

Based on the name (sounds like a candy shop), I was hesitant to give this restaurant a try, but it turned out to be a great option for late breakfast/brunch. Good coffee, excellent huevos rancheros, and giant pancakes. The restaurant seemed understaffed and service was a little slow, but this wasn't a big issue for us. Customers can pay by scanning the QR code on their receipt.

Pappas Sweet Shop is always delicious. Staff is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is really cool. The dining area is full of pictures and antiques from old Raton. Walls are decorated with old Coca Cola and other brands signage. As well as pictures of the town and surrounding areas, as well as it 's people from back in the day. Food was amazing! Try the Green Chile Cheeseburger, Chicken Salad Sandwich on Homemade Bread or the Stuffed Sopapilla smothered in Red Chile and Cheese. I promise you won 't be disappointed. Plus it 's always a treat getting to visit with Ann Marie, she 's the best!

We stopped here on the way to Colorado, and I wish we didn’t. We waited an hour for greasy, bland food. No one checked on us after we were seated or apologized for the delay. Do not come to this restaurant or this decrepit, dying town. Never coming back.

Delicious green chile huevos rancheros for breakfast. Friendly service and fair prices. Delightful small town cafe atmosphere; clearly a popular place with the locals. Very happy that I came here. I'll be back!

Was on my way to Colorado Springs and decided to stop in Raton for some lunch. It's not right off of I-25, but it's close. The food was good, I had stacked enchiladas and my companions had burgers. Portion sizes we on the larger side, and that's good. Disappointing part was the glacially slow service. We were in the restaurant for over an hour at lunch time. Like I said, the food was good, but I would recommend that you make sure to have plenty of time before you need to be somewhere.
