Al Fanar Café - Ras al-Khaimah

We were looking for places to try Machboos and finally found the best place. Yes, Al Fanar is par excellence. We ordered Machboos, beryani robyan, icecream with karak and kashiba. The food was too good and one should definitely check out the restaurant as it is designed based on home in olden days. Watch out for camel !! Their juices are freshly made. Only thing, the restaurant is crowded on evening so reservation might help. Also watch out for portions as we were not able to complete our plate one Machboos will be enough for two!

It was my family's pleasure to have our first experience trying authentic Emirati food at Al Fanar Restaurant in Ras Al Khaimah. We tried many authentic dishes like the mixed platter of Koftat Samak, Samboosa, and Hobool, the Naghar Mashwi: grilled squid and Jesheed: crumbled baby shark with Arabic spices. The meal was concluded with an eclectic dessert platter that included Leqaimat (my favorite) and Arabic tea, the best we have ever had!

Had a great time eating in this restaurant.The menu is well organized and the photos on the menu look really appetizing! The Dango- chickpeas, is super delicious. We had a chicken sandwich wrapped in traditional bread. The sandwich is very flavorful and juicy. The Arabian tea is not too sweet and ends the simple meal satisfactorily. A rosewater hand wash is a pleasant ending and the service is simply delightful. I would definitely go back for the signature dishes such as the grilled quail!
