Contribuiți la feedbackExceptional Japanese food in a humble setting. They choose to focus their time and investment in the quality of the food, not decorating the windows and upgrading the tables which in our superficial Instagram culture is refreshing. I've not had a better Japanese meal in Darwin, possible not in Australia, Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu
Dont judge a book by its cover. Place might not have all the bells and whistles but the staff are friendly and the food is even better
I frequent this cafe as the katsu curries, ramen, bento etc are cheap and damn delicious. 5/5 on that front. But Ive given the sushi a chance multiple times and been gravely disappointed. The rice was soggy and had no vinegar, seasoning, or anything. It was just wet rice and the fillings were also bland. The prawn sushi still had the shell (not just on the end, but thru the whole roll) which was just plain unpleasant. Also a bit disappointing but staff just walk out the front to a long line of people, grab a few things from the counter and ignore all customers, ducking back to the kitchen. Very poor service most of the time. 3 stars for the good food but 1 star lost for the service and 1 star lost for the sushi.
My partner and I went to order takeout, but the owner walked off into the kitchen without acknowledging us. We waited for a while, but no one came to serve us. At one point, a kitchen staff member brought out a lady's takeout and told us to go back to the kitchen. We decided to leave. The service was terrible and being completely ignored is unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant, and I will never set foot in there again.
I am perplexed why this unclean, disorganized establishment has not been shut down, especially considering its popularity and rating on this platform. Japan and its people are known for being organized and extremely hygienic, but it seems like this place was transported from a different world. The windows and door are dirty on the outside, and the staff, as well as the owner, wear dirty aprons. The food is somewhat acceptable, but lacks freshness, presentation, and authenticity. It might be worth visiting for a good laugh, especially if you are new in town. The wall behind the counter is covered in all sorts of things, giving off a foul odor. I would love to see Gordon Ramsey inspect the kitchen here.
